General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)

About – The full time diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery, one of the widely appraised nursing courses in Mumbai we offer, has been recognized by the Maharashtra State Board of Nursing, Para Medical Education and the Indian Nursing Council. The duration of this course is 3 years, and it constitutes all the basics to advanced knowledge of nursing, including subjects like Foundation in Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Obstetrics, Medical Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Gynecology Nursing, and Community Health Nursing. The main campus of this course is at Sion – Mumbai. 

Eligibility – According to the regulating authority of Indian Nursing Council (INC), a candidate requires to have passed their class 12th from arts, commerce or science stream from any recognized institution, with a minimum 40 percent marks in aggregate in the first attempt, to pursue a nursing degree including GNM course. The aspirants must have a minimum 40 percent marks in English subject as individual. Students from State Government recognized State Open School, and Central Government recognized National Institute of Open School (NIOS) are also eligible to get a diploma in nursing through this course. The candidates willing to take admission in this particular course should be at least 17 years of age.

Session type and course details – The General Nursing and Midwifery course is of 3 sessions combined. There will be 2 semesters in each session, making it a course of 6 semesters. 

Besides subjects like Pediatric Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Obstetrics, this course also comprises life science topics such as Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Pathology and Genetics. The students must achieve the required percentage in each semester, to qualify for the next session.
