Why Learning French in India Is a Smart Career Move

French language in India is one of the most spoken foreign languages. French is the official language for 29 countries and is spoken by approximately 300 million people. It is one of the most spoken foreign languages after English and Spanish. Countries that speak French include France, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Mauritius, etc.

French language is a romance language, originated from Latin. We find many similar words between French and English due to cultural exchange and influences. Today many pastry shops use the word patisserie in their names and formal language uses RSVP, which is respond please in French.

India and France have shared a long history of economic, strategic and diplomatic relationship. This diplomatic relationship has given several opportunities to Indian citizens. Indians today who have learned the French language are hired by several multinational companies. They work in several companies like PNB Paribas, Amazon, Infosys, etc. Those who are expert in French language not only work as teachers and translators, but they can also work in other fields such as recruiters, travel agents, language specialists, academicians, etc.

French language is also very helpful for those students who wish to study abroad. There are several universities across Europe and Canada that offer scholarships. Charpak Scholarship, Erasmus scholarship and Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme help students from India visit France and other European countries to widen their horizons. Canada has government scholarships for international students which one can avail.

French language is a helpful tool for travellers who risk getting duped as they are unaware of the local language. France itself spans across multiple continents; it includes islands in Caribbean; Pacific and Indian ocean which makes it a perfect tourist spot for all kinds of people. Mainland France is also a very well-known tourist destination. When one is aware of the local language one can very well immerse themselves into the local culture and avoid cultural shock.

Lastly, French language has a very large basket of knowledge. We know several French philosophers and writers like Camus, Sartre, Victor Hugo, Voltaire, etc. If we can comprehend the language, enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the beauty of art pieces like books and movies in their original form. Often, we find meaning lost in translation; learning the language can make one understand the thoughts which they might have missed in reading its translation.

Learning a foreign language is a new experience, it opens doors for opportunity, and it makes one aware of a new world. If you plan to learn French in India, choosing the right French course in India will be the first step toward fluency. Those who aspire to visit to France should know its language, the carrier of culture and knowledge.
